Control Manager - Vice President - Finance & Business Management

The Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Finance Controls and Governance team is a Global team that sits within Corporate and Investment Banking Finance & Business Management and is responsible for implementation and governance of cross-Line of Business (LOB) Profit & Loss / Risk, regulatory & control projects.

Position Description

As a Control Manager - Vice President - Finance & Business Management within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Finance Controls and Governance team, you will be tasked with the implementation and governance of cross-Line of Business (LOB) Profit and Loss (P&L) / Risk, regulatory & control projects. You will collaborate closely with senior Product Controllers in the Corporate and Investment Banking division and partner with senior leads across functions including Business Management, Risk Strategy Legal Entity Control and Legal. 

This role provides you with the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Firm’s products and booking model methodologies and controls, and to interact significantly with senior management at the Managing Director (MD) level. You will be expected to lead and promote related projects from initial design to final implementation.

 

Job Responsibilities

Work with LOB Product Control to review and document the CIB Legal Entity Booking Model and related controls on quarterly basis.  Clearly communicate Booking Model and financial information to the LOBs and senior management and able to flag and escalate potential issues. Act as an SME, pose challenge to LOB PC to ensure accurate and timely reporting of quarterly LEBM results.  Feed into various senior mgmt. and board meetings decks and materials.  Take a lead on enhancing the controls, adding efficiency by automation and synergizing the book of work seamlessly.  Actively participate in infrastructure & regulatory projects relating to aspects of CIB Finance Governance. Be engaged in the onboarding CIB wide strategic legal entity booking model tool. Lead response to related ad-hoc requests from senior management, regulators, and other functions. Establish and manage relationships with the LOBs, other functions, as well as with external regulatory agency constituents through ongoing partnership and dialogue. Drive coordination across various front & back office support functions to ensure resolution of control and reporting issues in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Independently handle various ad-hoc requests on a frequent basis.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

Significant experience in a Finance organization with exposure to Product Control, Business Management, External or Regulatory Reporting. Knowledge of Balance sheet, P&L, Risk and accounting concepts. Knowledge of financial products including derivatives. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparing & presenting materials to executive audiences. Strong analytical skills, with ability to articulate and summarize findings to a broad audience. Creative self-starter with strong initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).  Comfortable working in a matrix environment and proven ability to multitask effectively. Comfortable operating in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

-Knowledge of Alteryx (build and maintenance) will be an edge.
