How you'll make an impact Gallagher Re UK Finance Strategy & Operations Providing financial insights and analysis and conducting financial due diligence to advice and influence the UK leadership team on strategic decision making and investment decisions across the UK business Maintain a close and detailed understanding of the individual business plans and challenge appropriately to ensure all business units operate within the agreed framework Deliver strategic and tactical business partnering and decision support to the Gallagher Re UK Leadership Team Increase the profitability of Gallagher Re UK through effective decision support, influencing skills and the ability to challenge the business in a constructive way. Act as a key member of the Finance management team who not only contribute on current matters but also on the positive transformation of the Finance function, building for an improved future Leading on commercial finance considerations of any mergers, acquisitions and disposals within the business Stand in for the Gallagher Re UK Finance Director where needed including on the relevant boards and committees Financial Planning and Analysis Ensure smooth operation and adherence to the budgeting and financial management processes Run the forecasting and budgeting processes for the division, with detailed records of all relevant information, including revenue and expenses. Ensure these are linked closely to the overall business strategies · Performance Monitoring and Reporting Present and report accurate and timely data to all levels of stakeholders, to support the running of the Gallagher Re UK business Develop & ensure budgets and forecasts are credible, appropriately challenged, accepted and owned by the businesses that will deliver them. Validation and effective communication of monthly management accounts to Gallagher Re UK Production Executive Committee and to the wider Finance community. Provide insightful commentary focused not just on what the results are but what they mean for the business and recommending courses of action to rectify areas of poor performance. Business Partnering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as sales, marketing, operations, and HR, to understand their financial needs and provide financial support and guidance. People Management & Development Create an inclusive, engaged and motivated team culture to achieve optimum performance Review engagement survey results and ensure appropriate actions are taken as required Ensure that clear objectives are set, regular individual performance reviews are carried out and that rewards are directly linked to behaviours and performance against objectives Oversee the development and training of the team, including the promotion of continuous professional development and advocacy of professional qualifications Through effective succession planning, seek opportunities to develop team members that could become future managers and leaders of Gallagher Re UK or within the wider business Effective resource planning through monitoring retention risks and promptly acting to mitigate these to avoid skill or knowledge gaps that could impact the business Ensure that recruitment and selection within your function is carried out in a fair and effective way Risk and Governance Monitor and support the effective implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework Identify, manage, mitigate and report all risks arising from the operation of the Gallagher Re UK Finance Team Ensure the ERM Framework is considered when developing and maintaining all policies, process, system and management information Ensure the Gallagher Re UK Finance Team conduct business in an appropriate manner in adherence to Gallagher policies and procedures Accountable for ensuring team members within the Gallagher Re UK Finance Team complete mandatory training, minimum continuous professional development (CPD) hours, annual performance reviews and goal setting Role model good conduct and ensure that any breach of the conduct rules are reported and appropriate action is taken Carry out the role in accordance with the FCA’s Senior Manager & Certification Regime requirements and remain mindful at all times of the FCA’s Principles for Business. About you A qualified accountant Solid knowledge of Management Accounting techniques and Financial Accounting principles Demonstrates a good understanding of FCA regulations Knowledge of general insurance products, services, and classes of insurance including underlying legal principles and practices relating to risk within own role capacity desired Significant people development and management experience essential Business acumen experience in commerciality and risk awareness Ability to build rapport, establish credibility and to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally Results-oriented mind-set with a drive for growth High degree of self-awareness and self-management Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience of working in a global, matrix-managed organisation, with the upmost integrity and confidentiality Proven track record of successful P&L management Effective use of judgement and consideration in problem solving and decision making Efficient and effective chairing of meetings Demonstrates high levels of integrity Strong commercial focus and analytical abilities Proactive.
